Research and responses

The Thames is a long way from Walthamstow. It is possible that as Mrs Hatley was from E17, this provenance also came to be listed for the object. However, it is perhaps most likely that this is simply a Pitt-Rivers object from Walthamstow, and the Thames provenance is a later mistake. [Dan Hicks 25/07/2013]

This could be Annie Richardson Hatley, who published a book 'Early days in the Walthamstow district' by Walthamstow Antiquarian Society in 1933 or a relative, see biographies [AP 30/07/2009]
