Research and responses

Pisano was a 13th century Sienese painter. If not Sienese with Byzantine influence, this could be a Byzantine painting done for a western patron. Related to the 'Macedonian school'. On the ornate gilt frame is another label stating 'Miss Woodburn. March 13 1855'. Found unentered in the Museum safe in May 1989. Information as to age and provenance supplied by Dr. Nicholas Gendle, 20.6.1989. [LM] See information in Biographies file [AP 10/7/2009]
