Research and responses

There are other items in this collection obtained from Grimston Moor in 1867 when Pitt Rivers worked with Canon Greenwell in the Yorkshire Wolds area [AP Leverhulme project on founding collection 1995-1998]

This is Grimston rather than Grunston moor [AP 06/07/2006]

Since the PRM hold other stone artefacts collected by Lane Fox at Grimston Moor in April 1867, and since this object was certainly collected by 1874, when it was sent to Bethnal Green Museum, I have updated the 'when collected' field for this object to 'April 1867?'. [Dan Hicks 06/09/2012]
