- Long description
- One of a pair of high leather boots [.1] with curiously shaped heel tipped with iron. The sole forms an S shape and in under the hollow under the instep is another piece of iron running from here to the heel. The toe upper is longer than the sole and turns up. The leather is stained brown. The inside is covered with blue and white textiles. The top of the boot folds down to show a pointed band of the textiles at the top of the boot. A strip of green leather is attached around the toe at the base of the upper/side of the sole. [SM (Verve) 27/03/2014]

If these boots do match the delivery catalogue entry then the objects were not exhibited at Bethnal Green Museum or South Kensington Museum. However the black book entry would suggest that they were displayed in Bethnal Green and South Kensington Museums (V&A) [AP Leverhulme project on founding collection 1995-1998]
Comment made by member of the Archaeological Leather Group during their visit in April 2014 - this shoes looks like a riding shoe. [MJD 16/12/2014]
