Model coracle made from wood with bench a bench in the centre of the boat. The shell of the boat is made from reeds that have been woven and bent between one another and then turned upwards at the ends to create a coat shape. The edge of the model is then bordered with a twisted basketwork design. The exterior of the boat is covered with a dark coloured textile. The interior of the boat has a bench going straight across with a leather strap perforating the bench. See 1884.81.6 .2 for the paddle associated with this boat. [ASh [OPS move] 27/09/2016]

Research and responses

It is not stated in any of the primary sources which object [and where it was] the boat was modelled on. It was presumably used as example of a missing link in one of the series [AP Leverhulme project on founding collection 1995-1998]
