- Finger-ring of stone with squared front, part of band missing. Carved from a single piece of argillite, the band is thick and rounded and has a rectangular flat segment on its top. Approximately one-third of the band is missing.

Originally described as being jet or lignite. Identified as probably argillite, made by the Haida, by Beatrice Blackwood. [LM]
The following information comes from Haida delegates who worked with the museum’s collection in September 2009 as part of the project “Haida Material Culture in British Museums: Generating New Forms of Knowledge”:
This ring was viewed alongside other items of personal adornment on Friday Sept 11, 2009. Christian White was unconvinced the material was argillite because of its general appearance and the characteristics of the material at the break.
