- Research and responses
This object possibly matches an object in the catalogue of a Sotheby sale on 1-2 July 1879, from the collection of Baron Heath, at which Pitt-Rivers bought other material: "Lot 12 Fine antique bronze Horse's Head, fully caparisoned; a small bronze Head, terra cotta Satyr's Head in 8 hood, and 8 bronze Male Head, found at Paestum, on marble pedestal" (Sotheby, Wilkinson and Hodge 1879: 8).
