Lord Cochrane accompanied Hutchinson in his expedition to the Pachacamac ruins see 'Explorations among the Ruins of Pachacamac. Peru' by John Schumacher Journal of the American Geographical Society of New York, Vol. 5, (1874), pp. 248-255 [AP 06/05/2010]
For further details about Consul Thomas Hutchinson see computerised Biographies file. See Chapman, 1981: 323. The reason why this object is mentioned in the green book and the Pitt Rivers catalogue is that it is listed as having been brought to Bethnal Green in 1874 presumably just before the catalogue was published. Other objects brought after 1874 are not mentioned in both sources for obvious reasons [AP Leverhulme project on founding collection 1995-1998]
