1981.35.23Long flared dress (kosulja) with bell sleeves; made from undyed cotton or linen sewn in panels. Heavily decorated: woven wool in panels of black, red, maroon with embroidery in gold & silver thread are sewn onto the dress at wrists and up arms - the patterns are reminiscent of oriental carpets. The hem has panels of embroidery, some differing from each other but generally in "carpet" patterns in red, white, beige, light green; along the hem is a strip of maroon wool with sequins sewn on. The stand-up collar and the two panels along the neck opening are embroidered like the sleeves with beads also sewn along edges and four rows of Turkish coins sewn onto the left front opening.
