Long description
Clay cast of a terracotta head from Nok. One eye, both nostrils, and mouth are all perforated through to the hollow interior. Figure has a single pointed ear remaining, and semi-circular eyes with large protruding eyelids. Figure also has chin beard or goatee. [IL [OPS Move] 20/6/2017]

One of sixteen casts of Nok terracottas purchased from the British Museum in two batches of eight (on 27 May 1965 and 11 May 1967); two of the sixteen were apparently never received (see unsigned and undated note in Related Documents file). [JC 3/11/2000]
