Research and responses

A plough plane is used for making rebates in wood, such as those on the side of a box or drawer that the bottom of the box or drawer is slotted into. [SM (Verve) 20/01/2015]

"Stothert" is likely to refer to the manufacturer. Several planes are listed online with similar stamps. A company in Bath set up by George Stothert in 1785 is possibly the manufacturer. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stothert_%26_Pitt accessed 20/01/2015] [SM (Verve) 20/01/2015]
