- Long description
- Snuff box made of animal hide and hair in the shape of a quadruped with an elongated neck, long snout, small ears, humped back and upwards inclined tail. The shape of the snuff box is formed by placing wet animal hide over a clay core. The clay core has been hollowed out. The head of the animal forms the lid of the snuff container. The snuff box is decorated with strips of black, white and taupe coloured hide to create fur marking and eyes. [CW [OPS Move] 17/10/2016]

1938.21.38Snuff box. Made from a cylindrical section of bamboo. The base is flat and stained red. In one end of the bamboo there is a wooden stopper with plant fibre string knotted through. The upper half of the bamboo on the outside of the box has been stripped away to expose the fibres, there are straight lines cut into the outside of the box as decoration.
