1964.10.026Bag, made from plant fibre. Natural fibre and dyed black fibre make up an elaborate decoration of scrollwork and bands. One side is decorated with a woven snake motif. The handles are made from raffia leaf. This bag is a debt bag. When a person contracts a debt he makes a bag and gives it to the chief who holds it until the debt has been paid. 1900.63.4Shield, pointed at both ends, painted with a red pigment. Both faces of the shield are decorated with transverse bands of rattan and stitched over with cane plant fibre. There is a section of cane nailed to the front of the shield. On the reverse of the shield there is a decorative wooden handle carved from the body of the shield in relief with a raised disc with concave central section underneath.
