Leather bottle [.1] with elephant ivory stopper [.2] and leather straps. [ZM 10/8/2005]
Long description
Leather bottle [.1] with elephant ivory stopper [.2] and leather straps. The vessel is made from pieces of leather stitched together with leather strips. It has two carrying handles, which are attached to the vessel with a strip of leather that is knotted at either end. The straps are decorated with impressed linear and geometric designs. The vessel is decorated on both sides with two double twisted leather thongs. A leather strip is attached around the base of the object through the bottom of these twisted leather thongs. The vessel stopper is made from a piece of turned ivory with a spherical top and cylindrical body. [SM (Verve) 04/03/2014]
