Long description
Light-weight cotton batik apron, part of a girl-child's costume (see also 2000.34.3 .1, .2, .4). The apron is made up of a rectangular printed section stitched to a slightly smaller piece of cotton, decorated with white geometric patterns on a dark blue ground, created using indigo dye and wax resist techniques. It is fastened using a strip of yellow, red and green (possibly ready-made) braid with geometric designs and fringed edges, which is loosely stitched to the apron. [LP 23/10/2000]
