Research and responses

This textile and related documentation were viewed as part of the Clothworkers’ Textile Project in January 2026.

A letter, dated 3 May 1959, from A.H. Hill to T.K. Penniman offering a collection of Malay items to the museum for exhibition includes the following information which confirms the sarongs are from Trengganu;

"...About 15 sarong illustrating the full range of embroidered cloths made in Trengganu..."

In response ‘Uncertain’ had been removed from the Geographical Provenance. [EW 20/01/2026]
