This object was featured in the Museum’s ‘web gallery’ (‘Selected Objects from the Lower Gallery’) produced during the DCF-funded ‘What’s Upstairs?’ project, 2004–2006, with the following caption: 'This glove, or finger, puppet is from Shenyang in the north of China. Northern Chinese hand puppets are only about three inches tall. The puppets play on a portable stage that the puppeteer carried on his shoulders. The puppeteer works the puppets, speaks or sings the characters’ parts, and plays music.
