Description
Nasca bowl with painted crayfish inside.
Long description
Circular pottery bowl with painted crayfish inside. The design covers the base of the interior of the bowl and the sides are painted a dark red colour. The exterior of the bowl is painted a dark red colour. The base is unpainted. The ceramic is fine grained and is a mid orange colour. There is a chip on the rim. [MJD 03/02/2015]

Information from E. de Bock from the Rijsmuseum voor Volkenkunde, Leiden: The pot includes depictions of crayfish in which the fact area of the crayfish looks like a human face. This is an early Nasca piece, probably Nasca 3.
