Research and responses

Although Claire Warrior has transcribed the name as Maclin Dillon, Julia Nicholson has looked at it and stated that whilst it does look like Maclin it could possibly be Martin, Martin Dillon is much more likely as there is a General Martin Andrew Dillon who served in India 1884 - 1888 [see biographies entry for further detail] [AP 14/1/2003]

The Ashmolean Museum have collections from Martin Dillon, this makes it even more likely that this collection is actually from him [AP 23/03/2006]
