1898.8.21Leather writing case. Brown leather, portfolio style, opening like a book, with leather ties along open edge. The exterior is decorated front and back with geometric patterns, and with cactus-like motifs on the front of the case, appliquéd in differing shades of leather. The inside of the case has leather pouches on each side, one of which has a tear that has been repaired at some point, and is lined with a red, white and blue plaid cotton. The entire case is in fairly poor condition; the leather is quite worn in some areas, and is badly damaged, possibly by insects, along the spine. [LP 8/11/2000]1898.8.21
