Long description
Tobacco pipe with bamboo tube stem and wooden pipe bowl. The top of the bowl is circular with a cylindrical extension around which is fixed a copper alloy ring attached by a metal chain to the end of the stem. The bamboo stem is ornamented with designs cut into the surface. There are two bindings of woven cane work either side of where the pipe bowl is inserted. A length of thick copper alloy wire passes through two perforations at the bowl end of the stem and is turned down on each side along the stem, two further copper alloy wire bindings hold it in place.
