Research and responses

These 23 bangles [1952.6.6 .1 - .23] were found together on a cylindrical mount covered with sewn red velvet. They represent a collection of different styles of bangle - some made of glass, some ornamented with pearls, some with foil. It is assumed that the accession entry which reads "23 bangles, of glass, gilded wire, and lacquer" does not refer to the composition of each bangle in this group but rather the range of materials used. This decision was reached after discussions between myself, Alison Petch and Gali Beiner. [EC 'DCF 2004-2006 What's Upstairs?' 20/1/2006]
