The inscription on this object was transcribed and translated by Fusa McLynn who volunteered at the Museum in 2010-13 as: (Front) 'Hieizan Enryaku-ji', Enryaku-ji temple at Mt. Hiei. (Back) 'Go-shugo', protection. [MJD 21/01/2013]
