- White trousers [for bell pads see 1895.46.1.9 &10] part of a Morris dancing outfit. The trousers are made of a thick woven textile and lined with cotton textile. The trousers have 11 brass buttons. Four buttons on the front flap. Three buttons on the fly. Two button on the front waistband and two buttons on the back waistband. Stitched into a small shallow pocket on the right front is a long pattern ribbon. The trousers have two front pockets hidden inside the front flap. The trousers are hand stitched. [MJD 13/10/2014]

Caption (same page), by Julia Nicholson (PRM) reads: '71/A Morris Dancer's Costume, Headington, Oxford. The full costume comprises a white shirt with rosette and blue and pink ribbons, white trousers with bell pads at the knees, and a double-breasted waistcoat with thin blue lines. Accoutrements included a black top hat with pink and blue ribbons and rosette, two cylindrical red and blue sticks, and a collecting box.' [JC 23 6 2006]
