Research and responses

Ethnologue uses Ma’di as current group name for Madi. [MR 2/5/2000].

The term ‘White Nile’ has been used to denote an administrative district immediately south of Khartoum throughout the twentieth century. However at the time this object was collected, the term was also used more losely to refer to the Bahr el Abiad and Bahr el Jebel rivers, or the areas immediately around them. The association here with the Ma'di suggests it was collected from somewhere around the Bahr el Jebel in Southern Sudan/Northern Uganda [RTS 28/11/2003].
