Long description
Circular shield with 4 brass bosses, painted black and with gold painted floral designs. The shield is made from hide and has been painted all over with a black glossy lacquer. The front of the shield is decorated with floral designs painted in gold. In the centre is painted a large flower with eight petals. Four brass circular raised bosses have been attached around the central flower, three of which are very loose. The back of the shield has a central square of padded green cotton textile. Attached to each corner of this square of textile is a metal hook. Attached through each metal hook is a metal loop. Two woven handles are attached. [FC 17/08/2010]
